Coin released celebrating 100th year anniversary of Gorkhapatra dated 2057 B.S(1901 A.D). Gorkhaptra is the oldest national daily newspaper of Nepal. It was launched as a weekly in May 1901 and became a daily newspaper in 1961. In 2001 A.D, King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev issued this 1 Rupee coin celebrating 100 years of completion of establishment. In obverse side of the coin there is inscription within assortment of ten people reading newspaper and reverse side of the coin has traditional design printed with the name of the King.
